Direct Marketing Solutions (DMS) was founded in Portland by Ed Sherman in 1982 after working in the direct mail business for over 20 years in both Los Angeles and Portland. The company moved to its current facility near the Portland International Airport in 1997 to accommodate growth in clients, employees and equipment. Ed’s sons, Mike and Steven Sherman, began working for DMS while still teenagers, learning every aspect of the business. Both joined DMS full-time after college, moving into sales and operations in the early 1990s. They assumed management of DMS in 2003. As Chairman, Ed still serves in a management consulting role to DMS.
